Perched on the mouth of the Donegal Bay and flanked by the Blue Stack Mountains, you will find the city of Donegal. Miles of scenic roadways lead to this wonderful city. If you love the outdoors and sweeping scenic vistas, Donegal and the surrounding area are a "must see".
Perhaps not historical in the conventional sense, Slieve
League offers some of the most stunning views. Slieve League, meaning
grey mountain, are the highest marine cliffs in all of Europe. The cliffs
are only a 30km from Donegal and are a perfect day trip for those with
a
rental
car. Be sure to walk the last mile of the trip and bring your camera!
With a close proximity to the water, Donegal offers sailing
and kayaking to fill an afternoon, but we really must suggest Slieve
League again. For the more adventurous traveler, we would recommend "One
Mans Path",
but please note that it is very dangerous. For the more cautious at heart,
explore the ruins of an old church and be sure to bring a lunch.
Dining in Donegal will present a problem. You will have
to make a decision at some point and the choices are many. The Blueberry
Tearoon & Restaurant is a fantastic place to stop in for a quick bite and
a cup of coffee or tee. A small internet cafe is also available in case
you need to make last minute changes to your
car
rental.
